FT8 and POTA Presentation

Several club members met at the Lounge on Saturday to hear a presentation by Dave Jewers (VE7DJ) on using FT8 in POTA. Dave shared from his extensive experience doing hundreds of FT8 activations in the region. Dave offered many tips on equipment and set up that will make activating in a park go smoothy. He provided some detailed examples of the FT8 process and how to maximize one’s calling in the POTA program on FT8.

The planned live demo at a local park was canceled due to very poor band conditions. There had been a CME hit our ionosphere earlier in the day which was blacking out most HF. The next time Dave is activating in our area he will let us know and we can join him.

Done with learning, members met at Browns for a rehash and some late lunch.
