ARRL Sweepstakes - November 2017

ARRL Sweepstakes - November 2017

Club Members participated in the ARRL Phone Sweepstakes for the first time this year. For the activity club members used Ralph's IC-7300 radio with the Carolina Windom Antenna installed at the arena. We also had Konsta's K3S radio brought into compare the two . We noticed that the spectrum displays between the two radios is subtly different. The markerfor the current frequency must be in the middle of the active spectrum on the Icom while on the Electraft the active specturm is above the frequency marker (USB). An interesting difference and a bit confusing. Members operated for a few hours making 32 contacts during our activation. We enjoyed the event but found the exchange difficult due to the speed a number of the contesters stated things.
