Formal Message Passing Exercise

Formal Message Passing Exercise

On Tuesday evening, December 11, 2007, a number of the members of the WRARC gathered on our repeater to participate in a message passing exercise.  This exercise, organized by Ralph, VE7OM, followed a briefing at a recent coffee meeting.

Participating were Stuart, VA7CRH; Deme, VE7CRT; Ross, VA7NRW; Eric, VE7EGK; and Ken, VE7KBN.  An impromptu net was called to order by Ralph, VE7OM, and announced that we would move to the White Rock simplex frequency to complete the message exercise.

Each of the participants had received a message they were to format to NTS guidelines and pass it to another of the members.

We felt that everyone did a commendable job, and there were lessons learned regarding forming messages and the passing of them.  Eric, unable to attend at the time agreed, passed his message earlier and received his via radio at a later time.

Other messaging exercises will be held sooner rather than later, to ensure that we don't forget what we have learned in this exercise.  A face to face discussion will take place at our next coffee meeting or gathering.
