NTS Message Handling

NTS Message Handling

Ralph presented an interactive lecture on the proper handling of NTS messages. He handed out copies of the current forms and went through the various sections explaining how they are to be filled in. He took numerous questions related to how they should be used in some specific situations. We also reviewed ARL number messages and the use of common pro words that are used to aid the transfer of messages.

Jim Leary asked how messages would be relayed across the country. Ralph explained the various levels of the NTS message network and talked through how a sample message would make its way to the Maritimes and back. All felt the presentation was informative and a helpful exercise for improving our skills should they be needed in an emergency.
