Practice Field Day at Blackie Spit

Practice Field Day at Blackie Spit

In order to ensure our Field Day event goes off with little problems, club members normally do a practice run in advance of the big day. This year we decided to set up at Blackie Spit where we would have easy access, lots of fresh sea air and a nice outing in the sun. The day we chose was also the annual QSO Party for the Pacific Northwest States so there would be many people on the air to contact.

Our even went smoothly we arrived around 9am when the parking lot was almost empty and there we were able to select the best spots for our adventure. We set up the day tent, Ralph's buddipole vertical and Bills IC-7000 radio. Soon we were making a few contacts and enjoying the time in the sun. After a few hours the day was getting hot and so we packed up and set off for home. It was a good outing and we felt we were ready for the Field Day adventure next month!.
