SOTA on Sumas Peak

Jim (VE7ABH) and Eric (VA7NX) hiked to the summit of Sumas Peak and operated in the Summits on the Air program. They had a fun time hiking and operating. Jim was able to snag some interesting stations on 20m. The first was a aeronatical mobile station in a plane off the coast of Florida. Then to cap the adventure off even better he successfully worked a station in Slovenia, 8600km distant. Perhaps not remarkable with a home station but with a portable rig with 12 watts and an antenna only 8 feet off the ground, it was truly a strong finish to the day.
